If you are not an experienced hiker in South East QLD, you will need to consider the following:

Water – It is highly advisable to bring your own water and carry plenty with you during the hike. This will help you avoid drinking water that could possibly be contaminated and making you ill during the hike, as well as avoiding dehydration. Dehydration is a serious concern in QLD as weather can change from cool to extreme heat with high humidity very quickly, having plenty of water on hand to drink will help you avoid dehydration.

Clothing – As mentioned above, the weather in QLD can change quickly from one extreme to the other. To be able to handle the change in temperatures, humidity, sunny or wet weather you will need to dress in appropriate clothing and be able to carry other clothing with you to match the conditions. It is recommended that you dress in light layers that you can easily add or remove as the weather changes. Always wear a hat and sunscreen, carry protective waterproof clothing and sunglasses in your backpack as well as a first aid kit. Your boots should be sturdy and waterproof, never take your shoes off as they will provide your feet with protection from the elements and bites from wildlife.

Camera – Remember to take your camera with you as you will be blown away by the scenery, flora and fauna that you will encounter on your adventure.
